1 Thessalonians 2:2 (KJV)
But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
Someone told me that the law condemns but the gospel loves, saves and gives grace.
This is the twisting of some truths that we should hold on to.
First, the law takes us to Crist and it will convict the elect to believe the gospel but the depraved will be condemned. The law is not evil. It is holy and good.
Second, even the preaching of the gospel of God's grace is not just loving and condescending. It is also contending. This is the essence of I Thes 2:2
When we say contending, that can only be done thru doctrine.
So yes preach love but more than that preach doctrine with love.
