Are Oaths and Vows allowed for Christians?
Listen to this reminder in TAGALOG of an explanation derived from the Baptist Confession of Faith
If you are a Filipino and you swear allegiance to another country because you are immigrating, then you can't still have total allegiance to the Philippines. Maybe a little affection is possible. But your new total commitment is to that country whom you have SWORN to defend and support with your life.
But our total commitment is really with CHRIST and with His Bride.
Our Holy Baptism is a solemn vow with more seriousness than signing with our own blood. Such is the case because the Baptism is done in the presence of the the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit through whom we say that we will love the brethren, the pastor, the leaders, the covenant in the Name of God. It is done in the presence of the Holy Angels and so many witnesses.
let our nay be nay and our yea, yea...
